 Reverend Oscar M. Massey

James D. Massey and Sarah Evans Massey on March 16, 1961. He was educated in the Wilkinson County School System. Rev. Massey's Father served as an itinerate preacher in the C.M.E. Church for 45 years, and a brother that was an itinerate preacher in the C.M.E. Church for 36 years. Rev. Massey has three children and three grandchildren.In 1979 he moved to Birmingham to attend Miles College. He graduated from Miles College with a B.A. Degree in English, and attended Miles Law School and CKM School of Real Estate. In 200l he received a Master of Divinity degree in Christian Education from Phillip's School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. While attending the ITC, he served as Student Body President (Student Christian League/SCL), Constitution Committee Chairman, and International Student Liaison (Washington, DC.). Rev. Massey worked for two years as Personal Assistant to the President of Miles College, and worked as Mail Room Supervisor, Asst. Dorm Director, and Graduate Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs of Miles College. He also served as Head Auditor for the Howard Johnson’s Hotel in Birmingham. Rev. Massey has been employed with the American Red Cross in the area of hospital services and certified in CPR, Rescue and Recovery, and Storm Damage Assessment, and received the "Red Cross Distinguished Service Award". Also, he worked as Sales Exe. for WJLD Radio (Birmingham). Rev. Massey is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the NAACP. Rev. Massey has been an itinerate preacher for (22) years with pastorate service in the Birmingham, North Central, and Southeast Alabama Regions. He was appointed Presiding Elder of the Tuscaloosa District of the North Central Alabama Region during the Southeast Alabama Region Annual Conference 2006 and served 9 years as Presiding Elder of the Tuscaloosa District. Rev. Massey was appointed pastor of Bailey Tabernacle CME Church in July, 2015. 07/31/2015:rs
